We Have the Power: Community Coalition Building

The power for sustainable change is in the hands of those who have a seat at the table. Shirley Chisholm once said, “If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.” Community and coalition building involves ensuring that those who have been systematically barred from power are now valued voices with the ability to influence policies and procedures that affect them as individuals, as a community, and for future generations. In the learning session, We have the Power, learners will explore how community and coalition building across agencies can create systemic change in communities for the benefit of families. Learners will define multi-sector engagement, community power, coalition building, and their impact on the generational outcomes of family and community well-being. Learners will discover action steps they can take to influence how community and coalition building can affect policy, funding, and actions that directly impact the well-being of families. Learners will receive a certificate for professional learning time after completing the course survey.
