Disasters can be natural events such as flooding, earthquakes, or hurricanes that cause significant damage to a community or significant loss of life. Disasters are forms of trauma that can have a long-term impact on the mental health and well-being of those affected. In the learning session, Resiliency in the Wake of Natural Disaster, learners will learn how to enhance community resilience following a natural disaster. Learners will gain an understanding of the trauma linked to natural disasters, methods to mitigate the trauma, and approaches to building a resilient community. Learners will learn strategies to implement in their local communities to provide support, encourage growth, and restore a sense of normalcy following a natural disaster. Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much (Helen Keller). You will receive a certificate of professional learning time after completing the learning. If continuing education or professional learning is required for licensing purposes, please reach out to your organization or institution to ensure they will accept the certificate.
